You have -50 to Enemy Fire Resistance on your equipped gear so that means the target monster will only resist 45% of your total Fire Damage(95 - 50 = 45). Level 25 Conviction is applied so it’s Fire immunity is broken(125 - 30 = 95 Resistance). For example, take the 125 Fire Resistance monster. Once that immunity is broken then it applies in full. Yet it if had 135 Fire Resistance, level 25 Conviction(-150) wouldn’t be enough and hence you’d have to add Lower Resist curse to the target to break it.Īny sources of -Enemy Resistance on gear(say from a Rainbow Facet Jewel for example) do not apply to any target that is immune to that element. Meaning if a monster has 125 Fire Resistance, you would need a level 21(-130) Conviction to break it. Yet when “breaking” an immunity, Conviction and Lower Resist work at 1/5th effectiveness so -30 and -13 respectively. Conviction can lower a target’s Fire/Cold/Lightning Resistance by a whopping 150%(-150) while Lower Resist curse can go as high as -70(but the skill softcaps at like -65(final 5 require like 30 levels… or level 60).

The only way to “break” said immunity is via Conviction aura and/or Lower Resist curse.

When a monster has 100 Resistance in an element, it is immune to all damage of that element.
